I would just like to make a comment on the traffic photo signals posted in Gurnee. While I feel that obeying traffic signals and laws is paramount, robotically issuing tickets in cases where drivers need to make split-second decisions on whether or not to continue through an intersection smacks somewhat of a way to just increase revenue for the village. Cameras, computers, and timers are very precise. People processing dozens of bits of information while driving are not. A $100.00 fine for a first offence is quite steep in these economic times. Perhaps a warning for first time offenders is more appropriate and would make it seem that the village is truly more concerned with traffic safety rather than just creating alternate forms of revenue. Having these cameras in your village will certainly have an effect on my decision in the future as to where I will be spending my hard earned income.
